π Shopping carts β
This page explains how shopping carts work for both anonymous (guest) visitors and logged-in customers.
- An anonymous shopping cart belongs to a visitor who isn't logged in. It's identified only by a unique
ShoppingCartId, stored in the visitor's browser. - A user shopping cart belongs to a logged-in customer account (
CustomerNumberis set). A customer can have at most one active cart.
π What happens to your cart when you log in β
When a visitor with products in their anonymous cart logs in, those products shouldn't disappear β they need to end up in the customer's own cart. The diagram below shows how that merge works, and why logging out afterwards leaves an empty anonymous cart.
